PRACTICAL GUIDE / FREE BETA
From tag text to an individual proof.
This guide covers the basic single-face rectangular workspace. For round blanks, front and back text, three fonts and configured prices, open the product-family workspace.
For shops already selling personalized tags. This tool arranges supplied text for human review; it cannot know whether a customer’s name or number is correct.
1. Prepare one engraving item per record
Download the valid fictional CSV template. The interactive demo includes deliberate errors so you can see how exceptions work.
order_id,name,phone,quantity #1001-A,MILO,555-0100,1 #1001-B,LUNA,555-0101,1
Two different tags from the same store order need different tag references, such as #1001-A and #1001-B. Quantity is the number of identical copies of that engraving item. It does not create individually numbered proofs.
| Field | What to select in CSV mapping |
|---|---|
| order_id | A unique reference per engraving item, up to 60 characters. Letters, numbers, spaces, # and hyphens; begin with a letter, number or #. |
| name | The actual first-line engraving text. Start with A–Z, then uppercase Latin letters, digits, spaces or hyphens, up to 24 characters. Text is never automatically changed. |
| phone | The actual second-line text: digits, spaces, hyphens, parentheses and an optional leading +, up to 24 characters. Choose “No second line” if unused. |
| quantity | A whole number from 1 to 1000, without leading zeros. |
Choose CSV, then expand CSV field mapping to select your source columns. Headers are matched without case and surrounding spaces. Each field needs its own source column. Billing names and phone numbers are not engraving instructions. Standard store exports may need a per-item export before they work here. There is no store integration or automatic extraction from notes or JSON.
CSV must be comma-separated, with unique nonempty headers, consistent field counts and quoted fields where necessary. Keep batches under 100 items and 250 KB. Unmapped columns are excluded from analysis and downloads. Use fictional data when asking for help.
2. Review the text and layout
The preview supports one rectangular face, one typeface and a fixed top-center hole. Adjust width, height and minimum text-block height. That minimum compares each complete line’s outline bounding box; it does not measure the smallest letter, engraving depth or a production tolerance.
If a line is too small, try a wider or taller blank. Only change the customer’s text after agreeing the change. Do not remove an international phone prefix simply to make it fit. Unsupported scripts, font choices, round blanks and double-sided products require another workflow.
Save preset downloads only dimensions and mapped column names, never order records. Load it for a later batch with the same columns, then verify every mapping. Refreshing the page clears the current batch and settings; a downloaded preset remains on your device.
3. Download and share the right file
- Use Report CSV to inspect every item, including rejected items. A proof ZIP is available when at least one layout is ready.
- Open the ZIP and match the unique reference in the report to an individual HTML file in
proofs/. Record 2 is the first data record; numbering counts the header and ignores blank records, so it is not always the physical file line. - Open that individual HTML in your browser. Use Print to save a PDF if preferred. Display and printed size are not to scale.
- Confirm that the individual file contains only the intended customer’s item before sending. Keep the whole ZIP, batch HTML, CSV report and manifest private: they include multiple items, including rejected data in the report and manifest.
SVGs are visual references, not machine files. “Layout ready” does not record customer approval. Confirm spelling, phone text, quantity, final product and production settings separately. Formula-like cells in the CSV report get a protective apostrophe; the proof and manifest retain the original mapped text.
4. Tell us what happened
The tool has no automatic visit, export or repeat-use analytics. Use Share feedback on the main page to open a draft in your own email app. It includes only item counts, and you can edit it before sending. Tell us which video led you here, whether you tried your own batch, whether you returned for another batch, and what manual work remains.
